He was predeceased by: his daughter Deeta Louise Rust; his siblings, Howard Rust, Curtis Rust, Leona Maxwell, Juanita Neihoff and Ruth Lumbaugh; and his parents, Clyde Rust and Esther Buckingham Rust.
He is survived by: his wife Nelda Goatley Rust; his children, Duane Rust (Bonnie) of Lone Oak, KY, Carla Sullivan (Rick) of Lowes, KY and Ersela McGary (Bruce) of Mason, OH; his sister Beverly Jean Thornton of Huntsville, AL; and his grandchildren, Melissa Durbin, Nicholas Sullivan, Ashley Birchler, Mallory Carloss, Blake Rust, Alex McGary and Chase McGary. He is also survived by ten great grandsons.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 25th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Byrn Funeral Home (1020 Paris Rd, Mayfield, KY 42066). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
