It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Earnest Burgess (Mayfield, Kentucky), born in Fancy Farm, Kentucky, who passed away on August 2, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy John Earnest leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. He was predeceased by: his wife Olida Waldean Burgess; and his son John Burgess Jr.. He is survived by: his daughters, Constance Burgess and Jennifer Burgess-Smith (Scott); and his grandchildren, Bryan Burgess (Samantha), Brandon Burgess (Cristina), Samantha Jarzynka (Michael) and Emily Brewster (Jesse). He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, August 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Maplewood Cemetery (408 N 6th St, Mayfield, KY 42066).
