He was predeceased by: his siblings, Eldon Brooks, Gerald Brooks, Joseph Brooks, David Brooks, Vinnie Kramer, Marion West and Anne Hebert; and his parents, Lee John and Myrtle Hauxwell Brooks.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Johnson Brooks; his son John Brooks (Nancy) of Arlington Heights, IL; his sisters, Sally Furgerson of Dryden, MI and Lora Slingerland of Spring Hill, FL; and his grandchildren, Kathryn Brooks, Andrew Brooks, Jaclyn Brooks and Matthew Brooks. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
