She was predeceased by : her father Charles Heeter; her daughter Ashley Heeter; and her sister Christine Louise Heeter. She is survived by : her mother Carol Fizer; her children, Anna Avat, Ankara Alvarado (Travis Andrews), Kenny Barnes III, David Heeter, Arica Woodruff, Jessica Humphrey (Ladarrius Polk), Kady Oldham (Jessica) and Asia Brooks; and her grandchildren, Khristian Heeter, Alexis Baker, James Woodruff, Jr., Malakhi Avat, Abriona Woodruff, La'nya Polk, Ladarrius Polk, Jr., La'vontae Polk, Sonja Garcia and Michael Garcia.

Cathryn loved her dogs, Pumba, Frank and Dots. she enjoyed thrift shopping, was a Tar Heels fan and loved to shop for toys to donate to children's charities during the Christmas season.
