He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Gent and Gladys Ayers Gent; and his siblings, Vernon, Don, Hermon "Blackie", William "Whitie", Loran "Spud", Virginia Cuatt, Laverne and Shirley.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hale Gent of Pineville; his sons, Ed, Tim, Bart (Angie) and Cole Gent; his stepchildren, Ashley Anderson (Brian Combs) and Jeffrey; his siblings, Fred Gent of Cookesville, Gladys Jean of Nebraska and Sandra Kay (Roger Garland) of Harrogate, Tennessee.; his siblings-in-law, Chuck Hale of Pineville and Maryrose Durbin Gent of Hamilton, Ohio.; and his grandchildren, Allie, Haley, Ryker, Myra, Ryan, Riley, Megan, Grace, Brooklynn, Carter, Kacen and Brody. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, and many friends.
