He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Nelson and Lillian Thacker; his aunt Mary Ida Sizemore; his siblings, Barb Nelson, Joe Hensley and Rick Nelson; his nephew Boss Nelson; his cousin Chuck Schultz; and his stepson Ryan Branham.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Nelson (Buffy); his stepdaughter Whitney Whitaker; his children, Ida Nelson (Red), Michael Nelson II, Mary, Billy Mullins, Amber, Jon Mullins, Jared Nelson and Lauren Branham; his siblings, Gary Nelson and Nancy Poore; and his friends, Levi, Randy and George. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Miller's Chapel Baptist Church (801 Evans Dr, Middlesboro, KY 40965).
