He was predeceased by: his parents, James H. Smith and Joyce Faye Miller Smith; and his grandparents, James Edward, Evelyn York Smith, Jim and Aline Ward Miller.
He is survived by: his uncles, Bill Smith, Jimmy Lee Smith, Ulyses Gene "Jabo" Smith and Marvin Miller; his aunt Barbara Hunley Smith; his daughter Stephanie Lindsay (Derrick); his granddaughter Ivy James Lindsay; his brother Greg Smith (Kim); his nephew Cameron Smith (Chloe Paul); his niece MaKenna Smith; his aunts, Carolyn (Danny Patterson), Doris Ann Smith, Georgie Harris and Bonnie Smith; and his uncle Alvie Smith (Martha).
