He was predeceased by : his parents, Donley Thompson and Ruth Hall Thompson; his wife Nina Thompson; and his siblings, Jack, Tye, Fred, Dearl and Melvina Shackleford.

He is survived by : his sons, Kevin Thompson of Milton, KY, Mark Thompson of Milton, KY and Matt Thorne of Fort Wayne, IN; and his siblings, Donnie Thompson of Columbus, IN and Evelyn Moore of Columbus, IN. He is also survived by two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
