He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Allene Gates Reed and Ralph Preston Reed; his brother Ronald Reed; and his brothers-in-law, Larry Kleiber and Russell Kleiber.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra L. Kleiber Reed of Milton, Kentucky; his children, Timothy Merrell Reed (Amy) of Kings Mountain and Ellen Chastain (Jon) of Louisville, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Jamie McGinnis (Myra), Reed Chastain, Carter Grace Reed and Adeline Chastain; his sister Sheliah Kinnaman (Joe) of Avon, Indiana; and his siblings-in-law, Jo Ellen Reed of Coatesville, Chuck Kleiber (Jeanette) of Roachdale, Rance Kleiber of Indianapolis and Wes Kleiber (Terri). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
