He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Hayes and Edna Ross Hayes; his children, Amy Hayes of North Carlise, Ohio and Chad Roberts Hayes of Springfield, Ohio; his siblings, Ray (Brenda Hayes) of Pine Knot, Kentucky and Audrey Johnson of Lafayette, TN.; his grandchildren, Brittany Ison, Ashley St, Pierre and Jessie Bradley; and his great grandchildren, Jace Idson, Lilith Ison, Alarie Wisecup and Alakai Springfield.
