He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Elwood Sheffel and Fern Readout Sheffel; and his siblings, Tom, Mark, Philip Sheffel and Delores Neace.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Swanson Sheffel; his sons, Jeffrey Allen Sheffel (Julie Hoezee) of Denver and Jonathan Andrew Sheffel of Denver, Colorado; his brothers, Don Sheffel of Cincinnati, Paul Sheffel of Little, Mike Sheffel of Jackson and Alan Sheffel of Alexandria; his half-brother Eric Sheffel of Jackson, Kentucky; his sisters, Vicky Sheffel of Lexington, Becky Mulroy of Chicago and Susie Geiger of Waco, Texas; and his half-sister Melody Sheffel of Indiana.

So in lieu of flowers those who would like to honor him may contribute to a worthy cause of their choice.
