He was predeceased by: his parents, Riley Mitchell Newman and Georgia Nell Hinton Newman; his wife Jean Kincaid Browning Newman; his son John R. Newman, Jr.; and his siblings, Maurice Newman, Frank Newman, Catherine Burke, Geneva Fannin, Marie Smith, Carrie Staggs and Georgia Gillespie.
He is survived by: his daughter Carol Ann; his son-in-law Joshua Adams of Ashland; and his grandchildren, Michaela Polley and Kaden Adams. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; as well as extended family, neighbors, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Northcutt & Son Home For Funerals, Inc. (400 Fraley Dr, Morehead, KY 40351). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Morehead American Legion Post 126 (140 American Legion Way, Morehead, KY 40351). A burial will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 at the Newman Cemetery (604 Sunset Rd, Hillsboro, KY 41049).
