Josephine Carter Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Josephine Carter (Morehead, Kentucky), who passed away on April 26, 2026 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Melvin Burton and Zora Hall Burton; her husband Burl Kenneth Carter; and her half-siblings, Shirlda Davis, Gladys Courson, Leona Henderson and James Burton.
She is survived by: her sons, Jason Carter (Tara) of Olive Hill, Carson Carter of Olive Hill and Adam Carter (Shirley) of Olive Hill; her grandchildren, Carson Carter, Brandon Carter, Austin Carter, Joshua Carter, Kourtney Carter, Zachary Carter, Rechell Carter, Kayden Carter, Tyler Carter, Jesse Skaggs and Michael Skaggs; her sisters, Violet Carrol of Morehead and Lydia Harper of Alliance, Ohio; and her niece Leona Sue Eckman. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; as well as other extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 29th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Northcutt & Son Home For Funerals (400 Fraley Dr, Morehead, KY 40351). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 at the John Carter Cemetery (Binion Ford Rd, Upper Tygart, KY 41164).
