He was predeceased by : his son Huey Coots Jr.; his siblings, Dewey, Bobby Coots and Wilma Ruth Allen; and his granddaughter Adrienne Paige Phelps.

He is survived by : his wife Vida Lee Johnson Coots of Morgantown, KY; his sons, Derrick Coots (Debbie) of Morgantown, KY and Daniel Coots (Kimberly) of Morgantown, KY; his grandchildren, Dustin Coots (Samantha) and Stacia; his great grandchildren, Hayden, Kylie, Ryleigh, Brylie, Charlie N., Chevi, Emma, Charlie C., Lillian, Delilah, Findley and Willow; his siblings, Eddie Coots, Linda Flener (Dale) of Morgantown, KY and Dianne Reece of Indianapolis; and also Madison Coots of Morgantown, KY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
