He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Jay" S. Wathen and Edith R. Hornung Wathen; and his brother Billy Wathen. He is survived by: his wife Robin Hayes Wathen of Mt. Eden; his children, Tara Fields (Ricky) of Louisville, Brandon Wathen of Louisville, John Wathen, Jr. of Louisville, Nicole Sams (Robert) of Mt. Eden and Heather Hess (Timmy) of Shelbyville; his sister Patricia "Patsy" Works of Louisville; his grandchildren, Maddy Pierce, Kyler Wathen, Ky'Ann Wathen, Keyth Wathen, Makayla Whobrey, Keven Hess and Allie Hess; his great grandchild Alexander Hess; and his pet Huey.
In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with the final expenses are requested to be made directly to the funeral home.
