She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph "Joe" Bates and Myrtle Blevins Bates; her husband Jim Barnard; and her sisters, Carlene Becraft, Shirley Dixon, Lettie Bates and Barbara Bates.
She is survived by: her son Sean Donohew; her siblings, Stanton Bates, Bonnie Bennett (Lacy), Martin Bates, Victoria Beyer (Gary), Brenda Toler (Ron) and Ronada Whitaker (Foy); her close friend Terry Donohew; Sean. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Church of God (1051 Camargo Rd, Mt Sterling, KY 40353). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
