He was predeceased by: his parents, Manford Stewart and Opha Grubb Smith; his stepfather Ernest Smith; his brothers, Ledford Stewart and Ernest Boone Smith, Jr.; his sister-in-law Rebecca Stewart; and his grandson-in-law Trenton Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Bernadine Asher Stewart; his siblings, David Stewart, Leo Stewart (Jeannie), Ann Owens (Jerry), Carol Napier and Rachel Sizemore; his siblings-in-law, Ruth Ann Shell (Gary), Gary Lynn Asher (Sheryl) and Larry Gene Asher (Earlene); his grandchildren, Kassidee Martin, Bryant Nantz, Kendra, Alyssa Seal, Cody, Arianna Hope Looney, Zach, Carrington Mercedes Estep, Sammy Jr. Estep, II, Katie Hubbard, Adrian, Courtney Smith and Blake; and his great grandchildren, Kyleena Gail Estep, Grayson Sammy Estep, Abigaile Martin, Jude Martin, Wyatt Nantz, Brinley Nantz, Scarlett Looney, Rayder, Acen, Daxxin, Jeriko, Huxen, Lenyx Seal and Brynlee Hubbard. He is also survived by his family, including a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
