He was predeceased by: his parents, James Robert Hurst and Effie Cooper Hurst; his first love Norma Ruth Hurst; his grandson Dwayne Hurst; and his siblings, James Robert Hurst Jr. and Crystal Hurst.
He is survived by: his children, Chuck Hurst (Dena) of Muses Mills and Sherri Gardner (Morris) of Beechburg; his stepson Randy Meyer (Angie) of Oak Ridge; his granddaughters, Kristy McDowell (Tyler), Alison Grannis (Josh) and Carrie Basford (Kane); his great grandchildren, Gabe McDowell, Emma McDowell and Laurie Basford; and his sister Loretta Rigdon of Muses Mills.
