He was predeceased by: his mother Ethel Jones Cogdill; his former wife Karen Cogdill; and his nephew Greg Wood. He is survived by: his father Bill Cogdill of Somerset; his wife Shelia Cogdill; his daughters, Rebecca Thornton (Josh) of Mt Vernon, Stephanie Mudd (Scott) of Burnside and Katie Taylor (Josh Mayfield) of Nancy; his stepdaughters, Jessica Duncan (David) of Wayne County and Samantha Vanover (Victor) of Wayne County; his siblings, Randy (Terri) of Ferguson, Jeff Cogdill (Jen) of Somerset, Wilma Burdine of Bronston, Norma Trull (Troy) of Science Hill, Rena Lafavers of Somerset and Kathy Barber (Sam) of Somerset; his grandchildren, Kierra Burton, Jasmine Emerson, Matthew Taylor, Karena Steiner, Levi Taylor, James Steiner, Dakota Burton, Samuel Taylor, Vanessa Steiner, Braiden Duncan, Caleb Taylor and Paisley Duncan; and his great grandchildren, Gracelynn Deaton, Eliana Taylor and Meredith Burton. He is also survived by two future great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 4th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home (2110 KY-914, Somerset, KY 42503). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 4th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Carl Cogdill Memorial Fund.
