It is with sadness that the passing of Shirley Hounshell of Newport, Kentucky is shared. Shirley, born on December 10, 1944, passed away on September 1, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Shirley will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honor Shirley by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though Shirley is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Shirley’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Miller and Emma Miller (Watson); her husband Letch Hounshell; her sister Barbara (Brenda); her sons, Reverend Eddie Hounshell Sr. (Kristi), Letch Hounshell Jr. (Brenda) and Frank Hounshell; her siblings, Mackie Miller (Kay), Frank Miller (Mary) and Connie Miller; and her pet Leroy. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, September 5th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 8:00 PM at the Cooper Funeral Home (10759 Alexandria Pike, Alexandria, KY 41001).
