He was predeceased by: his mother Rose Turner; his uncle Kenneth Turner; and his grandmother Lillie Turner. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Burge Turner; his children, Cassie Turner, James W. Turner II and Felicity McWhorter (Max); his stepdaughter Kim Hensley; his grandchildren, Jayven and Leiland Burge; his siblings, Douglas Turner (Lilly), Ned Turner Jr. and Saundra Begley (Rodger); his sister-in-law Linda Burge; his niece Stephanie Miller; and his brother-in-law Jeff Burge. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
