He was predeceased by: his parents, David Gillis Colson and Pearl Cottingim Colson; his siblings, Samson Colson, Mary Nancy Lunsford, Elizabeth Joyce (Buddy), Ruth Asher and Virginia Wherle; and his stepdaughter Debbie Batterson.
He is survived by: his wife Theda Marie Elkins Colson; his children, Ward Wayne Colson of Richmond, David Y. Colson of Hamilton, Tammy Colson of Hamilton and Dean G. Colson of Mason, Ohio; his stepson Freddie Gerald Blevins of Hamilton, Ohio; and his siblings, John Colson of Davenport, Florida and Marilyn LaPrade of Martinsville, Virginia. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
