He was predeceased by : his parents, Clyde Byrd and Ethel Byrd; and his siblings, Hubert Byrd, Reba Dean, Inita Byrd and Freda Byrd.

He is survived by : his wife Elizabeth Byrd; his children, Michael Byrd (Rebecca Byrd) and Deborah Johnson (Teddy Johnson); his grandchildren, Darin Lovins, Cody Lovins and Hannaha Johnson; his great grandchild Lillie Lovins; his siblings, Dale Byrd, Rex Byrd, Donnie-Ray Byrd (Gwen), Lenzie Byrd (Fern), Irene Burns (Lewis) and Cleda Chesnut (Daw Hunter); and his brothers-in-law, Junior Dean and Jack Chesnut.
