She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Rhodes and Elsie Rhodes (Head); her husband William Robert "Bob" Sims; her sons, Mark Alan Sims and Michael Anthony Sims; her siblings, Harold, Louis, Leon, Anthony Rhodes and Kathleen Harrison; and her great grandchild Penelope Pru Merritt.
She is survived by: her children, Sandy Merritt of Whitesville, Jeff Sims (Sandra) of Philpot and Lori Butler (Thom) of Indianapolis; her grandchildren, Robbie Merritt (Kim) of Whitesville, Amy Brasher (Mark) of Whitesville, Clint Merritt (Brandi) of Whitesville, Jamie Hamilton (Wes) of Whitesville, Brandon Sims (Mallory) of Owensboro, Brooks Butler (Brooke) of Nashville, Dalton, Eli Butler of Indianapolis, Chris (Becky) and Tuesdee Richards of Owensboro; and her siblings, Gerald Rhodes, Marie Brandle and Carolyn Nissen. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Precious Blood Catholic Church (3306 Fenmore St, Owensboro, KY 42301). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky, in honor of Lois's compassionate spirit and lifelong dedication to helping others.
