He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Thomas Brown and Virgie Vanmeter Brown; his wife Sandra Moorman Brown; his siblings, Mary Catherine Taylor, Carl Lee, Joe Louis, Thomas and William Winstead; his children-in-law, April Brown and Anthony Cox; and his grandson Samuel Thruston.
He is survived by: his children, Donald Brown, Charles Brown, Jr. (Tonia), Tonya Thruston (Jerry), Beatrice Moore (Efrim, Sr.), Deanna Louis (Anthony), Christopher Brown, I and Jacquelyn Cox; his brother Richard Brown, Sr. (Patricia); and his sister-in-law Jewell Brown. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the McFarland Funeral Home (1001 W 5th St, Owensboro, KY 42301). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Chapel (602 Sycamore St, Owensboro, KY 42301). A repast will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at the same location.
