He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Ambs and Mary Young Ambs; his daughter Kelly Ambs; his brother Frank Ambs Jr.; and his granddaughter Megan Ambs.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Miles Ambs; his daughters, Kris Lanham (Ricky) of Shelbyville and Tammy Ambs of Owensboro; and his siblings, Evie Pruden and Stephen "Hubba" Ambs. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
