It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Ellen McCarty of Owensboro, Kentucky, who passed away on December 5, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Truman Wilkerson and Nancy Rachel Wilkerson; her husband Charles Henry "Buck" McCarty; her children, Debra McCarty, Carolyn Allgood and Larry McCarty; her granddaughters, Crystal Lucas and Sheena McCarty; her great grandchildren, Stacy Michelle Simpson and Makayla Bowen; her great great grandchild Jayden Corley; and her siblings, Lela Dawson, Annie Poole and William Wilkerson.
She is survived by: her children, Dessie Shelton (Tony) of Lewisport, Charles Mitchell McCarty (Vonna) of Cloverport, Nancy Marlene Smiley (John) of Owensboro, Kenneth McCarty (Sarah) of Hawesville, Anna Hamilton (Mike) of Lewisport, John "J. T." McCarty of Maceo and Barbara McCarty of Maceo; and her sister Leona Dawson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory (900 Old Hartford Rd, Owensboro, KY 42303). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
