She was predeceased by : her husband Jimmie Gilbert; her parents, Henry Newman and Ruby Newman; and her brothers, Glen Newman, Curtis Newman and Willie Newman.

She is survived by : her children, Jimmie Gilbert (Debbie), Michael Gilbert (Catherine Brooke), Patricia Davis (Thomas), Pamela Gilbert (Teresa Herndon) and Cynthia Hetzler (Michael); and her brothers, Darryl Newman (Judy) and Robert Newman. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
