He was predeceased by: his parents, Harve Smith and Effie Smith; and his siblings, Dennis Smith, Roger Smith and Sheila Smith.
He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Rucks Smith; his children, Glynn Smith (Ging), Susan Hagan (Stephen) and Andrew Smith (Mina); and his brothers, Harve Smith, Steve Smith and Johnny Smith. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
