He was predeceased by: his parents, Leland Nelson and Melva Wareham Nelson; his wife Ladonna Jean "Toni" Nelson; and his siblings, Kathleen Eaquinto (James) and Kendall Nelson.
He is survived by: his daughter Melanie Dees of Paducah, Kentucky; his granddaughter Ashley Dees of Metropolis, Illinois; his great grandchildren, Jayce Stewart and Olin Sheridan; and his sister-in-law Marilyn Nelson of Orem. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
