He was predeceased by: his parents, James Elmer and Ruby Burgess; his grandson Joshua Smith; and his siblings, Dean Tyler, Virginia Davis, Faye Lee, Sarah Riley, Pearl Keeling, Leon Burgess, Donald Burgess and Thomas Burgess.
He is survived by: his wife Angela Burgess; his children, Darla Hayden (Paul) of Fancy Farm, Kevin Burgess (Stacy) of Milburn and Joey Burgess (Crystal) of Milburn; his siblings, Jane Jones Higgins of Dublin, Kentucky and Jerry Burgess of Mayfield, Kentucky; his brother-in-law Duane Rogers of Milburn; and his grandchildren, Tori Burgess, Zach Williams (Caroline), Savanna Williams (Trea), Hope Hayden and Grace Muscovalley (Dalton). He is also survived by six great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
