She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Fred Laird and Mary Ann Clark Laird; her husband Henry Clay Carter; her stepsons, Jesse James Carter and Curtis Carter; her granddaughter Constance Embree; and her siblings, Mary Newbury and James Fred Laird.
She is survived by: her sisters, Mitzie Harris and Wanda Newbury; and her grandchildren, Bruce Carter, Tracy Gowen, Charles Carter and Chris Carter. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
