He was predeceased by: his parents, James Watkins and Erma Jean Young Franklin; his siblings, Martha Jean Franklin and Charlie Franklin, Jr.; his grandparents, Julius Young, Ruth Wilson Young of Virginia, Etta Mae Weatherspoon Jenkins and Willie Watkins; and his nephew Malcolm Hensley.

He is survived by: his son DaBrien Fitzgerald of Atlanta, GA; his sister Taronica George of Paducah, KY; and his sibling's children, Ellis "Tubbs" Franklin, Michael Robinson, Fazion Leggs, Aerion Jones, Terajae Woolen and Danija Woolen. He is also survived by Three Great Nieces, Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins.
