He was predeceased by: his parents, Jules Dowell and Lucille Ellis Dowell; his wife Susan Kay Vaughn Dowell; his daughter Jennifer Dowell; and his brother Gary Dowell.
He is survived by: his sons, David Dowell (Melissa) of Paducah and Danny Dowell (Dawn) of Paducah; his sister Pat Travis (Buddy) of Dresden, TN; his grandchildren, Jenna Dowell (Fiancé'), Austin Dowell (Jenny), Evan Dowell, Macie Dowell, Kristyn Pennebaker (Lyndell) and Kyle Speer; and his great grandchildren, Dawson Dowell and Riley Carpenter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
