He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Albert and Dorothy Jean Bowden Mills; his wife Tera Youngblood Mills; and his daughter Sarah Jo Mills-Chaney. He is survived by: his children, Brandy Akers of Chattanooga, TN and Trey Mills of Murfreesboro, TN; his siblings, Marty Mills of Mayfield, KY, Donald Mills of Mayfield, KY, Ruthie Barker of Benton, KY, Jeanne Dykes of Mayfield, KY, Phyllis Kartmann of Chattanooga, TN and Marie Miller of St. Petersburg, IN; and his grandchildren, Nathan McCoin, Aryanna Mills, Jacob Mills and Cheyenne Oliver. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
