He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Bernard and Ollie Mae Kaster Mills; his former wife Jeanette "Jeni" Marie Mills; his great grandchild Korilyn Lynn Boyd; and his siblings, Henry Mills, James Mills, Louie Mills, Ruth Griggs, Sarah Mills, Rita Hendrickson and Imogene Denton.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Margaret Mills of Paducah, Kentucky; his children, Mike Shoemaker of Phoenix, Angie LaPlante (Joel) of Edmond and Victoria Boyd of San Diego, California; his grandchildren, Christopher LaPlante (US Army), Brandon Boyd and Courtney Slaughter (Cody); and his great grandchildren, Jackson LaPlante, Mackenzie LaPlante, Dawson LaPlante, Lucas LaPlante, Annistyn LaPlante, Carsyn Slaughter and Cammy Slaughter.
