He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia "Trish" Shade; and his parents, Walter Fritz and Betty Jean Henson. He is survived by: his children, Eric Shade (Mindy) of Paducah, Tina Shade Mitchell of Hopkinsville and Ryan Shade (Hailey) of Gilbertsville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
