He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Lewis Ballance and Geraldine Hill Ballance; and his sister Terri Keyes. He is survived by: his wife Almeda Ballance; and his children, Shane Ballance (Heather) of Daphine, Justin Ballance of Fairborn, Dock Horne of Van Lear, Kentucky, Latonia Vance (Jeff) of Hot Springs and Shelly Horne of Oil Springs, Kentucky. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
