He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Franklin and Virginia Carlisle Swinford Smart; and his brothers, Virgil Smart and Carl Douglas Smart. He is survived by: his brothers, Thomas Lee Smart (Marie) and Harry B. Smart; and his sister-in-law Ruby Smart. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
