He is survived by: his wife Donna Anne Tubbs Thwaites; his children, Julia Alan Thwaites and Christopher Warwick Thwaites; his grandchildren, Lincoln Christopher Thwaites, Coleson Alan Thwaites, Wiley Warwick Thwaites and Catesby Lane Thwaites; his stepmother Mary Jane Thwaites; and his mother-in-law Dorothy Anderson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
