She was predeceased by : her parents, Frances Dunham Scott Florence and Jesse Lee Scott (Paul Vordon Slade); her son Frank Steven "Steve" Slade; and her sisters, Rosalee Spivey and Norma Sue Shrout.

She is survived by : her granddaughter Jessica Evelyn Slade; her daughter-in-law Susan Rowland Slade; her brother Charles William Florence; her cousin Bob Dunham; her nieces, Suzanne Isaacs Flairty, Diane Slade, Misty Miller and Holly Wolfe; her nephew Mark Shrout; and her caregiver Shvonda Johnson.

Ruby adored dogs and they enriched her life, especially her beloved Ellie who was a steadfast companion and gave her purpose during the isolation of the COVID pandemic.
