He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Elsie Jones Shumate and Norris Ray Shumate; his son Nicky Shumate; and his brothers, Danny and David "Hoghead" Shumate.
He is survived by: his children, Drew Pool of Bowling Green, KY and Stephany Pool of Cadiz, KY; his sisters, Sharon Carver of Hopkinsville, KY and Shelley Markham of Elkton; his niece Shelbi Gregory (Bryce); and his great-nephew Steven "Peanut" Gardner. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren.
