He was predeceased by : his parents, Carmel Charles and Irene Holloway Charles; and his brother George Charles. He is survived by : his daughter Deanna Compton; his grandchildren, Kyle Douglas Compton, Anna Elizabeth Compton, Megan Elise Compton and Tyler Ryan Johnson; and his siblings, Jimmy Charles, Robert Charles, Betty Staton (Roger), Jean Adkins (Jerry) and Joyce Ratliff.
