He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Thacker and Velma Thacker; his son Eric Shannon Thacker; and his sister Mindy Lou Thacker. He is survived by: his wife Roxie Lee Thacker; his children, Emmitt Thacker (Leslie), Jessica Helvey (Robert) and Elizabeth Damron (Joshua); his siblings, Robert Thacker Jr., Gary Thacker, Virginia Conway, Loretta Thacker, Phyllis Kendrick and Gail Thacker; and his grandchildren, Nathaniel Helvey, Erica Thacker, Reilley Damron, Isabella Thacker, Emmitt Ian Thacker, Jackson Thacker and Samuel Thacker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made privately in support of Emmitt's grandchildren's college fund.
