With sadness, we share the passing of Lloyd James Russell of Pikeville, Kentucky. Lloyd, born on September 30, 1947, passed away on September 9, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his mother Ella Norman Castle; his siblings, James Castle and Anita Fitch; and his grandchild Taylor Brown. He is survived by: his wife Janet Virginia Hughes Russell of Pikeville; his children, Christopher Lloyd (Amanda Russell) of Pikeville, Rachel (James Brown) of Pikeville and Ashley (Marty Tibbs); his sisters, Sharon Lawson of Brushy, Genoa Castle of Pikeville, Mary Jo James of Louisa and Joleene Hutchens of Palestine; his grandchildren, Nathan Brown, Krista (Colby Slone), Heidi (Dalton Hamilton), Faith (Justin Lovern), Gavin Tibbs, Sophia Russell and Dede Russell; and his great grandchildren, Dylan Bryant, Khloe Slone, Ivy Hamilton, Myleigh Lovern, Valley Drew Lovern, Averie Lovern, Riley Bryant and Bailey Bryant.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Son Funeral Home (703 Hambley Blvd, Pikeville, KY 41501). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
