He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Ray and Roxie Ratliff Ray; his wife Leahdane Justice Ray; and his siblings, Adron Ray, Ed Ray, Millard Ray, George Ray, Harold Ray, Jack Ray, Allard Ray, Elmer Ray and Garnet Marie Cole.

He is survived by: his children, Johnny Ray (Beverly) of Greenup, Sheliah Ann Logan (Phillip) of Pikeville, Kentucky. and Lisa Forsyth (Kenny) of Pikeville, Kentucky.. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
