He was predeceased by: his parents, George Sr. Smith and Stella Smith; his former wives, Janice Gabbard and Janet Gabbard; his children, Kathy Tucker and Alvin Nees (Dawnita); and his siblings, Herschel Gabbard, Thelma Isaacs, Jane Woodhouse, Helen Sepe and Delores Gabbard.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Gabbard; and his children, Kimberly Saylor (Steve), Kenneth Gabbard (Kimberly), Bonnie Richards (William) and Rhonda "Tina" Robinette (Brian). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
