He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Samuel and Lucille Elizabeth Wood (Ethington); his son Samuel "Sammy" Houston Wood; and his siblings, Luther Samuel Wood, Martha Jean and Nancy Lou Wood.
He is survived by: his sons, Joey Wood (Lorrie) of Elmburg and Monty Wood (Kim Casey) of Elmburg; his grandchildren, William Houston Wood of Louisville, Katherine Goetzinger (Aaron) of Bagdad, Lauren Storrs (Matt) of Versailles and Alex Flores (Frank) of Louisville; his great grandchildren, Grace, Rachel and Julie Goetzinger; his stepgrandchildren, Carman McTigue (Shawn) of Campbellsburg and Sydney Willard (Stephen) of New Castle; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Silas McTigue and Alvey Willard; his sibling's children, David Scott Wilson (Judy) of Elmburg and Tammy Jo Roberts (Steve) of Elmburg; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Dallas, Austin, Courtney and Zachary.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Beckley Funeral Home (5710 Castle Hwy, Pleasureville, KY 40057). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
