He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Akers and Lillie Hall Akers; his son Dave Akers; and his siblings, Jake Akers, Curtis Akers, Pearl Thacker, Nancy Mulkey, Carlie Sturgill, Ruby Akers and Stella Salisbury.
He is survived by: his wife Lorene Meade Akers; and his children, Brandon Spears (Summer) of Banner, KY, Phillip Akers (Cathy) of Harold, KY, Tim Akers of Martin, KY, Tashea Goble (Lee) of Ivel, KY, Tabatha Spears of Pikeville, KY and Priscilla Akers of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, August 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the Hall Funeral Home (331 KY-122, Martin, KY 41649). The military honors will be held on Thursday, August 14th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
