He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Boyd, Sr. and Genevithe Calvert Boyd; his wife Clemmie Ophelia Lander Boyd; his children, Gloria Boyd Walker, Karen Boyd and Charles Ray Harris; and his siblings, Viola Holland, Mary Louise Thompson, Virginia Gray, Ruby Gray, Melvin Boyd, Jr., Felix Boyd and Stewart Boyd.
He is survived by: his children, Charlotte Boyd of Clarksville, TN and Corey Boyd (Kanda) of Princeton; his brother-in-law Donald Earl Lander (Mary Ann); his son-in-law Fred Walker, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Chasity Walker, Jeremy Walker (Kim), Keisha Boyd, Laykin Peek, Megan Lunsford (Raeshaun), La'Keia Curry (Jericho), Teron Mayes, Charles Cain, Levi Willis and Emma Sutton (Christopher). He is also survived by great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
